Peláez received his master’s in fine arts from the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University (2000–2004). He is a visual artist with experience in production, management, and curation. He has had several solo shows since 2006, such as El Primer Starbucks de Colombia (The first Starbucks in Colombia) at Lugar a dudas in Cali (2007), 75000 Deseos (75,000 wishes) at the Quinta de Bolívar Museum in Bogota (2011), and Inversión Social (Social investment) at Guay in Bogota (2013); he also participated in the Performance Arts Festival in Cali (2006 and 2008); he was one of the artists selected for the Artecamara Pavilion at ArtBO (2013); he received the Espacios Independientes
scholarship from the Ministry of Culture in Bogota (2013) and wonthe Circulación de las Artes Plásticas y/o Visuales contest by IDARTES in Bogota (2011), in addition to being awarded a creative scholarship by Arte en la Quinta in Bogota (2010).

Peláez is the initiator of several contemporary art projects. He co-founded El Bodegón, an independent space that is no longer open, and M I A M I, an art space in Bogota that focuses on collective projects with themes such as, the task of the artist, the flow of information, and formalizing relationships between artists and other professionals. Peláez has worked on artistic editorial projects as a member of Caín Press’ editorial committee (2006–2009) and Jardín Publicaciones (since 2012). He is the director of M I A M I as well as a member of the curatorial team and is a member of the Ministry of Culture’s task force for visual arts which promotes independent initiatives.
